New to this Scouting thing?
Scouts is where young people make new friends, have amazing adventures, and learn new skills.
Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing.
But, we also get to hang out with our friends every week – having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.
Every week we give almost half a million 4-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.
Everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your young person’s physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them. And we’ll help them find it.
We are a global uniformed youth movement, over 100 years old, There are currently more than 50 million Scouts, both young people and adults, across 216 countries and territories. There are 174 countries with internationally recognised National Scout Organisations.

What do we do? It isn’t just knots and camps (but we do that, take a look HERE to see what happened at the 2024 Feb Freezer camp), we go on trips to museums, hikes around the local area, we have visiting specialists to show us how to keep ants, we do DIY projects, art, and even get free tickets to special events.
Scouting isn’t just a youth group either, when your young person joins they become part of the worldwide Scouting family, wherever they are in the world, if there are Scouts there, they have friends. Their friends and leaders look after them, offer pastoral care, and whatever their ability, disability, diversity, they will shine in Scouts.
Some of our Scouts have won Jack Petchy awards for being outstanding achievers, some have been awarded commendations for bravery and using their Scout learned first aid skills to save lives. All of our members are given the opportunity and support to achieve the highest awards in Scouting, the Chief Scout awards and the King’s Scout Award.
